Players will work 1 on 1 in the post with 2 perimeter passers. The defensive post player will begin in the middle of the lane and will attempt to keep the offensive post player from establishing post position in relation to the ball. Passers are positioned on one wing and at the top of the key. Upon the entry pass, the offensive post player tries to score versus the defense.
Emphasis
Players must work offensively and defensively for position in the post – and must adjust this position in relation to ball movement. Offensive post players must make strong, decisive post moves and read the defender. Perimeter players must make good decisions in post passing and use good passing technique.
Extension
Perimeter defense may be added to the drill. Perimeter defenders must allow the ball to be passed on the perimeter but will pressure the attempted pass into the post. Additionally, defenders can be allowed to “dig” down into the post upon ball entry.
