Drill Name: Run and Front Drill

Purpose: The defensive player works on hustling back on defense to get ahead of the player with the ball and to try to prevent a basket. This is also an excellent conditioning drill.

Drill: At command or whistle, the offensive player dribbles as quickly as possible to half court and then goes directly to basket. The defensive player catches up to the offensive player and gets in front in order to turn him or her. The defensive player starts out about three steps behind the offensive player. Players will switch assignments when coming back down the court.
