Transition Defense Drills
Drill name: 5 on 5 Random Movement
[Only Registered Users Can See Links]
1
5 offense, 5 defense. Coach/manager on each side of halfcourt. Coach at top with ball.
The offense will run any offense, while the coach can:
1) shoot to test rebounding
2) give to offense and let them run offense
3) throw it out for a loose ball
4) hit someone in the back if they aren't looking = turnover
Addition -- FULL COURT CHANGE:
While the offense is working, a coach will yell "change". The player with the ball will set it on the floor. The offense will now become the defense, defense becoming offense. The offensive player picking up the ball will pass ahead to a coach on the sideline at midcourt. Both teams are running down the court, changing ends. As they are running down court, the coach can throw to anyone on either team.
This drill simulates a turnover situation. It is also a great way to add life to practice.
