1
(Based on Hoop Tactics)
To shift the defence, 1 passes to 3 who passes back to 1 after faking a pass to 4. 4 ignores the passing. 1 passes to 2, 4 cuts to the ballside corner for a pass from 2, 2 basket cuts and 5 looks for the ball. 1 and 3 rotate. 4 looks to hit 2 on the cut, 5, 1, 2 on weakside wing, or shoot (4 is a shooter). If 1 starts with a pass to 5, 4 ducks in looking for a bounce pass.
Options
- if wing entry passes are denied, dribble clear, or use a 1-4 set, 4 cuts to the ballside corner on a pass to a wing or to 5
- start with two low posts, 1 can dribble penetrate the top of an even-front zone
- 1 dribbles towards the outside shoulder of a defender at the top of the zone and passes to the ballside wing (if 4 is ballside, 4 can screen the bottom player of the zone to help the wing get open)
- the wings can screen the top of the zone for 1 to attack the wing
- 5 steps out to set a ballscreen for 1.

2
The ball is reversed quickly (a hot potato) from 4 to 1 to 3 to open 2. 4 runs the baseline to the far corner. If the bottom defender steps out to guard 2, 2 looks to hit 4, or 5 flashing to the middle.
Variations
- against a 1-2-2, 3 and 1 slide toward 2, in the seams of the zone
- 1 backscreens the top of the zone on ball reversal, exchanging positions with 3 (or 3 downscreens the top of the zone for 1 to cut out top).

3
Another give and go on a pass to the corner.

4
If 2 fakes a pass to 4 and reverses the ball, 4 runs the baseline. A skip pass to 1 is effective.
Variations
- 4 remains in the corner for a skip pass from 1
- reverse the ball through high post 5
- on a skip pass from 2 to 1, 5 looks to backscreen the top of the zone
- the baseline runner goes short corner to short corner if he is not a shooter
- 4 and 5 x-cut on ball reversal (see Clock x-cut)
- when the ball is on one wing, the other wing slides in near the other elbow, or can sink to the corner for a skip pass.

5
If the pass to the corner is denied, 1 can dribble clear 4, and look to hit 4 on the back cut or 5 inside. 1 and 4 exchange roles, 1 now runs the baseline, 4 is a perimeter player.
